A Legacy of Love - A Rescued Lamb

Along a narrow path a shepherd led
His sheep. They slowly followed. One lamb strayed.
He brought them to a fold of rest. They fed
In meadows green, from cool springs drank, and stayed
In havens safe, while back into the wild
Turned he, in whose heart each one held a place,
To find and bring again the lost. His mild
Voice called its name. He slackened not his pace

Nor wearied in his search, though he through harm's
Way passed with dangers lurking. Faintly sounded
To his ears a bleating cry. The roaming
Lamb's impassioned pleas besought strong arms
And tender heart embrace the lost, now found.
‘Twas gently lifted up and carried home.

And so this Christmas season let us pause
And think of Christ as well as Santa Claus
And grow in our appreciation of
God's gifts of hope, of happiness, and love.
