Christ's Gifts

Though far you live from Galilee,
When storm-tossed, driven on a sea
Of circumstance you can't control,
Allow His peace to calm your soul.

Come, follow Him. How would He act
If He were in your place?
Remember Him; compassion
Will reflect upon your face.

Heed His words. If hurt unbidden
Strikes, and anger flares. Relive
His harsh trials when He found hidden
Wells divine and prayed, "Forgive."

Can you give your best to others
Gentle sisters, humble brothers
As He gave the fullest measure?
Where is your heart, what do you treasure?

In the quiet evening shadow
Or the hush that heralds day,
Find tranquility in kneeling,
As He knelt when he would pray.

Once you've found the fount of blessings,
Once you've learned to hear and heed,
You can give, as He, a fullness
Of the things that others need.
