Gift from the Heart

I stood looking at dishes,
But thinking instead
Of the bright Christmas season
That still lay ahead.

Then I thought of the presents
The ads, sales, and stress,
And I thought of the cost and
The clutter and mess

That would come from fulfilling
Ev'n one tiny part
Of what each person now wants
With all of his heart.

And I thought as I stood there,
"There must be a way
To not get overloaded
For this holiday!"

Because this is the season
When we should recall
That Christ came here to earth
Because he loved us all.

And that love is the feeling
That each of us could
Try to give to each other.
We can and we should!

And the gifts that we give should
Have love as a part.
They don't have to be big --
Just a gift from the heart.

And as heart speaks to heart and
True love starts to grow
Then the price tag won't mean much
For each one will know

That the love that we give
Unto our fellow men
Will return back to us. And
When that happens then

We will all feel better.
The stress and the strife
Will soon leave and we'll feel
His peace in our life.

So as this Christmas comes
Know that love is a part
Of this message we send --
As a gift from the heart.
