Symbols

Symbols kindle our emotions.
Symbols jog our memory.
Symbols make the abstract concrete.
Symbols can bring clarity.

The jolly giver, Santa Claus,
Sheds merriment and cheer
And brings to mind God's many gifts
To us throughout the year.

The gifts we share with those we love
Remind us of the kings
Who saw the star of Bethlehem
And brought their precious things.

The Christmas tree with lights aglow
Creates a magic spell,
Inviting us to let our thoughts
On God's creations dwell.

The lights themselves, while twinkling brightly,
Symbolize the light
That Christ himself brought to the world
On that first Christmas night.

The candy canes, like shepherds' staves,
Can represent the night
When shepherds watching o'er their flock
Beheld a glorious sight.

The carols sung at Christmas time,
Recalling Jesus' birth
Are echoes of angelic choirs
Who sang of peace on earth.

A wreath of green renews the hope
That life will never end.
That hope will be reality,
For God His Son did send.

Symbols kindle our emotions.
Symbols jog our memory.
Symbols make the abstract concrete.
Symbols can bring clarity.
