Ode to Christmas

The Christmas season now approaches us
And fills our hearts with joy and love and cheer;
With such great joy we do not mind the fuss;
We long to make this time the best each year.
We try to think of presents we could give
To friends and relatives we love so well;
Yet presents given by the way we live
Might be a better way our love to tell;
For service, kindness, honesty and love
Are things that Jesus taught while here on earth.
These gifts would please our Father up above --
A fitting way to honor His Son's birth.
A final touch upon such gifts would be
For us to give them through eternity.
