Through the Year

We're sorry we're late this Christmas
But it's been rather hectic 'round here.
And really, the spirit of Christmas
Should extend through twelve months of the year.

It was nearly two thousand long years ago
In a country so far away
That a baby was born whose life affects ours
Right down to this very day.

The angels, aware of His mission divine,
Sang to shepherds of peace on earth.
And a brilliant new star 'way up in the sky
Led wise men to His place of birth.

And when they arrived at the manger at length
Their gifts showed the love that they felt,
For each offered the best of the things each possessed
To the child before whom they now knelt.

And thus through the year as we go on our way
Let's remember the example here given.
Through our gifts of love to those around us,
We can draw ever closer to heaven.
