It was just like any other day
As far as people knew;
The grass was green, the sweet birds sang,
The sky above was blue.
And yet as evening's sun went down
No darkness did appear,
And in some people's hearts was joy
No longer need they fear
Because those who lived the gospel true
Had looked forward to that night
While to those who stoned the prophets sent
By God, this glorious light
Meant an end to their cruel, evil plan
To kill those who believed.
And thus that night as the sign was given
Some praised and others grieved.
"Christ is born," rang out through all the land
For that night the sign was given.
"Christ is born. Let men rejoice today;
Our God's come down from heaven."

It will seem like any other day
As far as people know,
And yet to one who's studied well
There will be signs that show
That on some day not far away
Our Savior will appear;
Then many people will know joy,
And others will know fear.
And the problem that confronts us now
Is when that day is here,
Will we be filled with greatest joy
Or filled with abject fear?
Yes, as the glorious news goes forth,
"The Savior's come to reign,"
Will we be overcome with joy
Or pierced with awful pain?
"Christ is come," will sound through all the land
"For now the sign's been given.
Christ is come, let men rejoice today;
Our God's come down from heaven."
